Indonesia the World's Largest Consuming Rice

The government this year launched a program "A Day Without Rice 'or' One Day, No Rice 'to reduce rice consumption society. Currently, per capita rice consumption of Indonesia reaches 139 kg per year, or the largest in the world.
As stated by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture Krisnamurthi when met at the Hotel Nikko, Jakarta, Wednesday (13/10/2010).
"Consumption per capita we are 139 kg per year. I calculate, roughly, about a half kilogram per day per capita. Nationally, 100 thousand tons per day, were many and huge. Consumption of rice in Indonesia is the world's largest rice. Japan only 70 kg per year per capita, China 90-100 kg per capita, "he said.
Bayu said the program" A Day Without Rice 'is very good, especially being a hot topic. "If Muslims are easy to Monday-Thursday fasting, and to end fasting (buka puasa) do not use rice," he added.
According to him, to eat rice a day fasting during the month, the rice consumption can be saved is as much as 1.2 million ton. And said Bayu, the current government is targeting production of 36 million tons of rice this year.
"We're not short of rice, only the excess consumption," he said.
It is known that the government is campaigning to reduce rice consumption society with the campaign 'One Day Without Rice' or 'One Day, No Rice'. In many areas the movement 'One Day, No Rice' has been rolled over this year as in NTT, NTB, North Sulawesi, North Maluku, Sumatra.
The Center for Food Safety Consumption and Food Security Agency (BKP) Mulyono Machmur said the movement eat less rice is part of government efforts to diversify the success of the national food. This is for food dependence on rice/ rice is not too high so that the stability of food can stay awake.
Mulyono said in the era of 1950's to 60's Indonesian community food dependency on rice or rice was still 53%, but now dependence was higher up to 92-95 %.
"We wanted this campaign to a national scale, is still at lower levels before starting from local governments," Mulyono said yesterday.

Konsumsi Beras Indonesia Terbesar di Dunia

Pemerintah tahun ini mencanangkan program 'Sehari Tanpa Nasi' atau 'One Day No Rice' untuk mengurangi konsumsi beras masyarakat. Saat ini konsumsi beras per kapita Indonesia mencapai 139 kg per tahun, atau terbesar di dunia.
Demikian dikatakan oleh Wakil Menteri Pertanian Bayu Krisnamurthi ketika ditemui di Hotel Nikko, Jakarta, Rabu (13/10/2010).
"Konsumsi per kapita kita 139 kg per tahun. Saya ambil gampangnya kira-kira setengah kilogram per hari per kapita. Secara nasional 100 ribu ton per hari, itu banyak dan besar sekali. Konsumsi beras beras Indonesia terbesar di dunia. Jepang saja 70 kg per tahun per kapita, China 90-100 kg per kapita," tuturnya.
Bayu mengatakan, program 'Sehari Tanpa Nasi' ini sangat bagus, apalagi sedang menjadi topik hangat. "Kalau orang Islam gampang puasa saja Senin-Kamis, tapi buka puasa jangan pakai nasi," imbuhnya.
Menurutnya, dengan puasa makan nasi dalam sehari selama sebulan, maka konsumsi beras yang bisa dihemat adalah sebanyak 1,2 juta ton. Dan dikatakan Bayu, saat ini pemerintah menargetkan produksi beras 36 juta ton tahun ini.
"Kita tidak kekurangan beras, hanya kelebihan konsumsi," ujarnya.
Seperti diketahui pemerintah tengah mengkampanyekan mengurangi konsumsi nasi masyarakat dengan kampanye 'Satu Hari Tanpa Nasi' atau 'One Day No Rice'. Di berbagai daerah gerakan 'One Day No Rice' sudah bergulir selama setahun ini seperti di NTT, NTB, Sulut, Maluku Utara, Sumatera.
Kepala Pusat Konsumsi dan Keamanan Pangan Badan Ketahanan Pangan (BKP) Mulyono Machmur mengatakan gerakan mengurangi makan nasi merupakan bagian upaya pemerintah mensukseskan diversifikasi pangan nasional. Hal ini agar ketergantungan pangan pada nasi/beras tidak terlalu tinggi sehingga stabilitas pangan bisa tetap terjaga.
Mulyono menuturkan pada era tahun 1950-60-an ketergantungan pangan masyarakat Indonesia pada nasi atau beras masih sebesar 53%, namun kini ketergantungan itu semakin tinggi hingga 92-95%.
"Kita inginnya kampanye ini akan berskala nasional, sekarang masih di level bawah dahulu dimulai dari pemda-pemda," kata Mulyono kemarin.
